A Dired reference card, compiled by yours truly. Dired is an Emacs mode for "editing" the contents of your directories, i.e. copying/moving/deleting, etc files -- all without leaving Emacs.

started some 15 years ago as an effort to produce a completely
free Unix-like operating system. The project strives not only
to produce top-notch tools (such as gcc, gdb, and Emacs), but
also to promote a certain attitude towards writing and sharing
software.

object-oriented scripting language with extremely clean syntax,
very orthogonal, rich library, interface to Tk for GUI,
extendible in C or C++, etc

is an editor, a work environment, a mail reader (and an excuse
for me to write some Lisp every once in a while) The Emacs Wiki is rather
good collection of Emacs resources.
